* Digital Workflow

Capturing digital images requires you to master many new disciplines. The digital workflow needs a whole new set of skills in order to process the digital files for all the different uses for which they may be required. These could range from small low-quality jpegs for the web right up to high resolution tiffs for reproduction. Between these two extremes are a multitude of different options for resizing, colour balance, curve adjustment, sharpening, noise reduction, lens correction, white balance etc. etc.

I have already discussed general image management in terms of storing and backing up your images but the digital workflow will also require that you attach 'metadata' to them so that wherever they are sent their ownership is clear. At its simplest this might be just copyright information but to this you can add basic captions and keywords and there are also many metadata fields that could be made use of if it is appropriate to do so. This of course rather depends upon where you intend to send them, but don't forget that even if they are just uploaded to your own website there should be basic metadata attached.

As a professional photographer I can advise on the entire digital workflow and optimise it for your own individual requirements.
